The Gold Severum ( Heros cf. efasciatus, formerly H. severum ) is a highly well-liked mid-sized cichlid that has been raised and bred in the hobby of keeping aquariums for many years. It is a gold and orange variant of the Banded Cichlid, another name for the Green Severum in its wild form. This mostly placid cichlid is found all across South America, usually in deep, quiet waters and slowly flowing canals. The Gold Severum is uniformly golden as a juvenile, but as it gets older, the majority of its body and fins usually get substantial patches of vivid orange spotting.
